Steps to fix the missing DVD drive in Windows 10 or 8.1

1. perform Hardware Device Troubleshooting

on start type troubleshooting and select device troubleshooting. and fallow the instruction to fix this issue. after complete restart windows and check.


2. Manually fix corrupted registry entries

Press Win+R (Windows key and R key) at the same time. A Run dialog will appear. Type regedit in the run box and click OK button.The registry editor should open

In the navigation pane, locate the following registry sub-key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} 


In the right panel, Right click on UpperFilters and select Delete, confirm the deletion by clicking Yes.

Note:- You may also see an UpperFilters.bak registry entry. You do NOT have to remove that entry. 


Next we need to delete the LowerFilters. Right click on LowerFilters and select Delete, confirm the deletion by clicking Yes.



3. Create a registry subkey

To use this method, you must be logged on to Windows as an administrator. If you need help verifying that you are an administrator, go to How to enable the hidden administrator account on windows 7, 8& 10
       Press Win+R (Windows key and R key) at the same time. A Run dialog will appear. Type regedit in the run box and click OK button.The registry editor should open

       In the navigation pane, locate the following registry subkey:

       HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi

       Right-click on atapi, point to New, then click Key.

       Type Controller0, and then press Enter.

       Right-click Controller0, point to New, and then click DWORD(32-bit) Value .

       Type EnumDevice1, and then press Enter.

       Right-click EnumDevice1, click Modify.

       Type 1 in the Value data box, and then click OK.

       Exit Registry Editor.

       Restart the computer.

4. In the elevated prompt, paste or type the following command and press enter key:
reg.exe add “HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0” /f /v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001
